Honeywell BAS Battery Safety Aerosol Sensors
Honeywell BAS Battery Safety Aerosol Sensors use the light scattering principle to detect and report thermal runaway events in lithium-ion battery packs. These sensors detect the presence and concentration of aerosols such as smoke, liquid, and debris. These aerosols are early indicators of a thermal runaway event in an enclosed lithium-ion battery pack. The BAS battery safety aerosol sensors measure and report aerosol concentration from 200µg/m3 to 10000µg/m3 using Controller Area Network (CAN) communication protocol. The sensors have a factory-programmed thermal runaway warning threshold of 5000µg/m3. Typical applications include battery pack systems for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy. These Honeywell aerosol sensors function in two operating modes: ECO mode and continuous mode.
