Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MPQ7231 Infrared LED Lighting Drivers offer fixed-frequency, constant-current, and Infrared (IR) LED drivers with integrated eye safety features. These LED drivers feature a 6V to 42V operating input voltage range and are ideal for driving one or two IR LEDs. The MPQ7231 LED drivers are configured to buck or buck-boost mode and achieve up to 3A and 2.4A of peak current (ILED_PEAK), respectively. These drivers use advanced BCD FET technology to minimize ohmic losses to provide ultra-low on-resistance MOSFETs with 44mΩ (HS-FET) and 40mΩ (LS-FET). Typical applications include Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), IR illumination for automotive cameras, and surveillance systems.The MPQ7231 LED drivers support 10Hz to 2kHz Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) dimming frequency range and are compatible with 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps dimming for IR LED applications. These LED drivers include eye-safety features such as LED current limiting and factory preset dimming on-time limits.
The protection features include LED short-to-battery (or ground) protection, LED open protection, Over-Current Protection (OCP) with latch, thermal derating, and thermal shutdown. The MPQ7231 LED drivers are AEC-Q100 grade 1 qualified and available in a space-saving QFN-19 (3mm x 4mm) package.
